Alejandro S. Camiling who is described by his friends as cerebral, self-effacing and low key, earned his Bachelor of Science in Commerce degree at Far Eastern University in Manila. He worked for Pampanga Sugar Development Co. as Chief of Internal Auditing and Accounting, practiced his accounting profession and taught accounting and auditing courses. He took up graduate studies in Advanced Executive Management at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. He retains his Philippine and California CPA licenses and works for the University of Southern California in Los Angeles as an accounting/financial director. He married an educator, the former Teresita Manalansan Zuniga and their marriage is blessed with four children who all attended USC (Theresa, Field Office Director of the United States Housing and Urban Development (HUD) in Los Angeles and serves as 2007 Chairperson of the Federal Executive Board of Greater Los Angeles; Ador, Doctor of Dental Surgery (DDS), Alain, Contracts and Grants Administrator at USC and Leanne, a public school teacher in Hawthorne, California). Very active in socio-civic-religious activities, Alejandro was a two-term president of the Filipino-American Association of Altadena-Pasadena and a director of three non-profit charitable organizations in California. He is the president of the PHS Class 1954 Alumni Association USA-Canada Chapter.
In recognition of Alejandro Camiling's valuable contribution in promoting Kapampangan language and culture and as a renowned researcher and writer on Kapampangan history and culture, he was nominated for the 2006 Most Outstanding Kapampangan Award for Arts and Culture by the Pampanga High School Class of 1954 Alumni Association, the Center of Kapampangan Studies headed by Mr. Robby Tantingco, Executive Director and Vice President of Student Affairs at Holy Angel University, Mrs. Josie D. Henson, president of Akademyang Kapampangan and by His Excellency, Archbishop Paciano Aniceto, D. D. of the Archdiocese of San Fernando (Pampanga, Philippines). |
